As we enjoy the last bit of sun for 2024, it’s the perfect time to start preparing for Autumn fashion. With the new season comes a chance to have fun with our outfits, experimenting with colours, textures, shapes and layering. In this article, I’ll explore key trends to watch out for, and how to prepare your wardrobe for this upcoming season…
It is not a surprise that this rich dark cherry red has infiltrated our lives this season with it being such a big trend last year. The difference this year, is that we are seeing it through accessories, shoes and bags, as well as accents of outfits. The jumper thrown over the shoulder or a pop of red through a scarf. Whereas last year it was the year of colour blocking.
Again, this is not revolutionary, but this autumn 2024 we are seeing a return to classic pieces steering away from trendy pieces. This season shades like khaki and olive green are popular choice, which are being incorporated into your wardrobe through coats, jumpers and accessories.
It’s time to put your ‘skirts the size of belts’ to the back of your wardrobe, as midi and maxi skirts are trending for this season. Pull out your leather, wool or knit skirts to add texture to your outfit. These skirts can be paired with boots for a cosier look, or flats for a cool girl look.
When leopard print first became a trend there were worries that this was going to be a micro trend, but to everyone’s surprise it has become a macro trend that is here to stay. Although it’s very Cruella Deville or Cat Slater, we are seeing lots of leopard print jackets or gillets to add a bit of fun to a classic outfit. Additionally, pops of leopard or animal print can be inserted through accessories, shoes, jeans or knitwear.
If this hasn’t been all over your social feeds, where have you been? Everyone has been loving ‘Jane Birkifying’ there bags, even if it does create a bit of controversy. This trend again is very 90s, and allows you to add personality to your bag through initials, lucky numbers or your favourite charms.
This is a very big trend for this season, playing homage to the 90s style. There is an article on my page about this trend in a bit more detail. There a lot of jackets on the market at the moment both faux and real suede, in lots of different shades of olive, chocolate or tan.
